The Children’s Rosary: Their final meeting until after the summer holiday, will be this Friday 2 June at 6.30pm. Weather permitting the Rosary will take place outside at the grotto. Ice creams will be served afterwards. St Cadoc’s children’s rosary group will be joining us. All welcome.
 
First Friday Mass: 6pm on Friday 2ndJune. Altar Servers Practice: Mon 29th May at 7pm in the Church.
 
First Fridays for life. The next First Fridays for Life Mass will be offered in St Aidan's, Johnstone on Friday, the 2nd of June, at 7 PM; Adoration & Confession from 6 PM.
 
AGAP Theatre Presents “Oggie! Oggie! Oggie!” This is written and performed by Stephen Callaghan, one of our   parishioners. A modern solo play based upon the Confessions of St Augustine will be performed in the hall on Friday 2nd June at 7.30pm as part of a summer tour on the way to the Edinburgh Fringe.  Tickets £5 from www.oggieshow.co.uk and from 0749 534 7884. Suitable for age 12+ due to adult themes. (Performance 65 min + Post-show chat with tea/coffee. A limited number of tickets still available also from Fr Joe
 
Annual Thanksgiving Mass for the Legion of Mary: This will take place at Carfin Grotto on Sunday, 4th of June with Holy Mass at 3 pm. The afternoon will conclude with the praying of the rosary and Benediction. All active and auxiliary members of the Legion and their families are warmly invited to attend.
 
Annual Mass for Marriage:  Bishop John warmly invites all who wish to celebrate the gift of marriage, especially engaged and married couples, to the Diocese of Paisley's at 11am on Sunday 11th June in St Mirin's Cathedral.  Reception in the Cathedral Hall to follow.  Details of those celebrating significant anniversaries can be emailed to Rebecca Harrison at the Marriage and Family Office ([email protected])
 
Corpus Christi Procession: To mark the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, there will be a Blessed Sacrament procession on Sunday the 11th of June beginning at 3pm. Primary 4 children who have made their First Holy Communion recently are invited to lead the procession.
 
Teas/Coffees: There are teas/coffees after the 10.00am Mass this weekend and St Marks Parents and Carers Coffee morning after 10am Mass on 18th June. Donations of home baking and prizes for the raffle are gratefully appreciated and can be handed into the hall before Mass. All welcome!
 
Last Fridays Family Night: A big thank you to all who came to welcome our many new families and parishoners. To all those who prepared the hall, worked on the night and cooked wonderful foods, we are truly grateful and thankful.

Special Collection - Communications – 21st May 2022. This collection pays for our national Scottish Catholic Media Office which provides a service to the press and media with information on the activities of the Church in Scotland.  The office supports two employees.

Primary School Day for Pentecost: The Diocese of Paisley will be facilitating a day of reflection and activities for Primary School pupils (p4-7) on Sunday 28th May at St. James, 50 Greenock Road, Paisley. Beginning at 2pm and ending with Dinner at 5.00pm (collection time 5.30pm), the afternoon will include activities, catechesis and Mass. Pre-booking is recommended but not required. All attendees will be required to bring a completed consent form. A Family Day with Mary – Sunday 14th May: An afternoon of celebration in honour of Mary our Mother which includes prayer, activity and games for children. The day will begin with refreshments at 2pm, and concludes with Holy Mass at 4pm celebrated by Bishop John. No 5pm Mass on this day.

Family Night & Meal To welcome all our new parishioners and to give all parishioners a chance to meet and enjoy good food, there will be a dinner in the hall next Friday 19th May at 7pm. The idea is that everyone brings a dish of prepared food to share. Hopefully this will lead to a mix of traditional Scottish fayre and food from other countries such as Hong Kong, Nigeria, Poland, Italy, Singapore & Spain. The parish will supply the crockery, glasses and cutlery. There will also be some haggis neeps and tatties on offer. Please bring your own drinks (byob). Volunteers needed to help set up so please give your name to Fr Joe or contact Lesley Ward for further details ([email protected] 07910266821).  Please also contact Lesley (preferably by email) if you plan to attend so that we have an idea of numbers, let us know By Tuesday 16th May.

Safeguarding News – Papal update to ‘Vos estis lux mundi’:On March 25, Pope Francis permanently decreed an updated version of Vos estis lux mundi, his landmark legislation to counter abuse in the Catholic Church. The decree now extends the Church’s norms for handling of abuse to cover lay leaders of international associations of the faithful recognized by the Vatican. Vos estis lux mundi (“You are the light of the world”) reaffirms an obligation to report cases of “vulnerable adult” victims of abuse, including violence against religious women by clerics and cases of harassment of adult seminarians or novices by a superior.  It also includes protections for people who witness acts of abuse, in addition to those who submit reports of alleged abuse, stipulating that no “obligation of silence” may be imposed on those who report, witness, or are victims of abuse.

Diocese of Paisley Safeguarding Thought for the Month: Safeguarding is a duty that is rooted in the message of Jesus and in the mission of the Catholic Church.
 
Diocesan Lourdes Hospitalité: There will be buses to take pilgrims to Edinburgh Airport on 30th June and return on 7th July. There will be a charge for the bus depending on numbers. The times of bus departure will depend on flight times and will be confirmed nearer the pilgrimage date. Contact [email protected]  to book seat on buses. The Pre pilgrimage meeting is on Sunday 11th June at 2pm in St Ninian’s , Gourock.
