Lay Ministries
We always welcome and encourage new members to join any of our Lay Ministry Groups. Some of the Ministries within the church will require adults to undergo a national police check through the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. For further information, visit The PVG Scheme website.
Sacristans
Sacristans
A sacristan is an officer who is charged with the care of the sacristy, the church, and their contents. In ancient times many duties of the sacristan were performed by the doorkeepers, later by the mansionarii and the treasurers. The Decretals of Gregory IX speak of the sacristan as if he had an honourable office attached to a certain benefice, and say that his duty was to care for the sacred vessels, vestments, lights, etc. Nowadays the sacristan is elected or appointed. Raymond Gaffney is the head sacristan, assisted by Mary Hallan, Ryan Fleming, David McCready and Allanna Connelly

The reading of Sacred Scripture at Mass in the responsibility of the members of the parish and a rota of trained readers exists to ensure that the Word of God is proclaimed on both weekdays and Sundays.
However, we require new volunteers to carry out this important role within the church, particularly at the Saturday Vigil Mass and the Sunday evening Mass. If you would like to volunteer your services in proclaiming The Word of the Lord at Holy Mass, please see the contact Fr Joe.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
Being an Extraordinary Minister of the Most Holy Eucharist is an honour and a privilege as well as a conscientious commitment to assist the Priest in the distribution of Holy Communion during Mass and to the wider community.
The rotas for all masses are organised by Mary Hallan, who can be contacted at [email protected]
As an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion of the sick and housebound you carry the love and life of God to them. This is a grave responsibility and at the same time a tremendous privilege as a representative of the Church; to be invited into someone's home bring the Body of Christ to those housebound individuals.
