World Day For Grandparents and Elderly
Pope Francis has established  the celebration of the World Day for Grandparents and Elderly. It will be on the fourth Sunday of July (25th July) near the liturgical memorial of Saints Joachim and Anne, the grandparents of Jesus. A Plenary Indulgence will be granted under the usual conditions: sacramental confession, Eucharistic communion and prayer, according to the intentions of the Supreme Pontiff during the solemn celebration he will preside over in St. Peter’s Basilica or at the various functions that will be held throughout the world.
The Plenary Indulgence will also be granted on this same day to the faithful who devote adequate time to actually or virtually visiting their elderly brothers and sisters in need or in difficulty (such as the sick, the abandoned, the disabled and other similar cases),” the note reads.

Our third evening will take place on Thursday 5th August in St Mirin’s cathedral at 7pm, to pray for our Clergy and Religious commending them to St. Joseph. Carfin Day
The annual Diocesan Pilgrimage to Carfin, led by Bishop John Keenan, will take place on Sunday 29th August. Mass with the Anointing of the Sick will be celebrated at 3pm followed by the Rosary Procession which will take place at 5:30pm. Catering facilities are available at the shrine.

March for Life UK
This will take place on Saturday 4th September in Central London from approx. 10am-4:30pm. The Diocese of Paisley together with SPUC Glasgow are organising an overnight coach which will leave from St. Mirin’s Cathedral at midnight on Friday 2nd September picking up at St Andrew’s Cathedral and Gretna Green.  The coach will return from parliament square at approx. 5:30pm with an ETA of midnight. Course to Qualify as RE Specialist
The University of Glasgow is offering an ATQ in RE this coming academic year (21/22). A grant of £400 is available in two instalments from Paisley Diocese for teachers, resident in the diocese who attend monthly diocesan seminars to support the completion of their assignments.  This qualification fulfils the requirement for applying to the GTCS for Professional Registration as a specialist Religious Education teacher in the Catholic Secondary school.
