Dedication Days of the Parish Bell
Work has recently been carried out to restore the church bell. This has lain dormant and silent for a number of years. Now that it is back to working order, it will ring out the hours, announce the Angelus, call us to Mass and toll at funerals or peal at weddings. It is the original bell from the old church. It is one of the few physical links with the old church building.
The restoration work cost an estimated £7000. This sounds like a lot of money, and it is! However, broken down into 365 days, it works out at £20 per day. Parishioners, and anyone interested, are invited to sponsor a day. This can be in memory of a loved one, to celebrate a birthday, anniversary etc. A list appears in the church on a weekly basis with the names of those whose memory or celebration is remembered on that particular day, and all sponsors are issued a certificate of their dedication. To sponsor a day, please use one of the PURPLE forms found in the Church Foyer. The cost this year is £10.
