Piety Stall   The stall has now returned to the back of the church behind the railings.  There is a limited amount of stock but if there are any suggestions for items you think we should be stocking, or you are looking for something that we don’t have then please speak to one of the volunteers when at mass.  On that note we are looking for some volunteers to cover the 11.30am  mass on a Sunday on a rota basis.  If you are interested then please contact Pauline Friel on 07890893914 or Alison Cassidy 07954693485.  As in previous years we will soon be taking orders for Christmas Cards.

Catholic Mothers: exists to connect, inspire, and equip women in the vocation of motherhood. Our group runs every Tuesday mornings in the Church hall after 10am Mass-12.00pm. Meet ups are very relaxed, where mums or grandmothers can bring their children along to play while the mothers and grandmothers gather round the table with a cuppa, have a catch up and chat. The topics are usually connected to that week's circulated podcast episode, book extract, Saint or Feast days. Confiteor:

Gloria: Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you; we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory, Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. Nicene Creed:  I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I Believe in   one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made.
For us    For us    For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, (At the words that follow up to and including and “became man”, all bow.) and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day, in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Prayer    Prayer to St Michael, the Archangel: St Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.   May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who wander through the world, seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
 
Brighter Barrhead 2050 Vision and Plan Stage Two Community Engagement Events

You can also drop in for a visit to discuss your thoughts and priorities for the future of Barrhead, on Wednesday 25 September 5.00-8.00pm and Thursday 26 September 10.30am-1.30pm at the Foundry, in the foyer, Main St Barrhead G78 1SW. We have a parish rep Danny Collins who attends the meetings to help bring this project together. You can also talk with Danny if you have ideas you want to discuss.

Safeguarding: Please be advised that any church or group volunteer who falls into the latter category (i.e. has never completed Part 2 training) requires to attend the Induction Training by the end of November 2024, otherwise their volunteer status will be removed.  This has become necessary to ensure all volunteers are appropriately trained to the same level and to allow for forward planning for new volunteer training. Parish Meeting to explain the Assisted Suicide Bill and how to stop it: 
​The real facts about the Assisted Dying Bill and how it will change health care in Scotland for good- for you, your elderly and vulnerable ones- should concern you.  The Bill is before Parliament and could pass the critical Stage One by the end of the year which will effectively ensure State sanctioned euthanasia in Scotland. So, action is urgent. .  Please come to our meeting and invite anyone concerned about this watershed moment.  Bishop John will attend the meeting.   Wed 25th September at 7.00pm. St. Mirin’s Hall, Paisley. (Renfrewshire Meeting).
 
Vintage Wedding Dresses: A Vintage Wedding Dress Event will be held in the Cathedral Hall on Sun 6th Oct at 4.30pm. Vintage wedding dresses and bridesmaid/prom dresses will be shown and available for sale. These dresses are from the stock of The Bridal Boutique (Miller Street, Glasgow) which closed due to retirement in the early 1990s. Many of the dresses are unused and are manufactured by Designer companies still in vogue today. Entry costs £2 at the door and includes tea/coffee. All proceeds to Mary’s Meals and St Mirin’s Cathedral Parish
