St Andrew's Day Afternoon Tea:
St John’s Social Committee are pleased to announce a Ladies Afternoon Tea on Sunday 30th November 2025. The tea will take place from 2pm to 6pm in St John’s parish hall. Tickets are available to purchase from the stall in the porch. Tickets are £10 each and includes a glass of Prosecco and entertainment. A licensed bar will be available. Please call Teresa O’Hara 07896988096 or Linda Leckie 07837184933 for tickets. All proceeds will go to the church renovation fund. Raffle prizes most welcome.
 
Teas and Coffees 10am Mass Sunday 2nd November:
All donations of home baking for the teas and coffees after 10am Mass on Sunday November 2nd will be gratefully received. The hall is open from 09:15 on the day.
 
St Conval’s Cemetery Mass 2nd November:

Prayer to St. Michael:
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in the day of Battle; 
Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into Hell, Satan and all the other evil spirits, who prowl through the world, seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Catholic Mothers, Play and Pray Group:
The Catholic Mothers meet every Tuesday in the Hall, between 10:30am and noon, after 10am Mass. Once the hall is being used for Mass, the mothers will continue to meet in the room off the porch or visit the park (weather permitting). Everyone is welcome to join us.

Catholic Mothers Planners are now on sale for 2026. All funds go to covering hall hires, retreat costs and are sent to HQ in London.

Diocese of Paisley Young Adults:
The Young Adults series on the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass - “Heaven Meets Earth” Continues on Wednesday 29th October at 7pm in the Diocesan Office, with ’The Liturgy of the Word’ by Fr Ryan Black. Mary’s Meals Walk Fundraising:
Mikey, age 10, is taking on another sponsored walk in aid of Mary's Meals for the fourth year running. The last three years he has raised almost £3,000: walking 10K, 11K and 12K respectively.
This year he hopes to walk even further! Please help him raise as much as possible for a great cause.

Monthly Divine Mercy Devotions Wednesday 29th October:             
There will be Divine Mercy Mass and Adoration on Wednesday which will start with Holy Mass at 7pm celebrated by Monsignor Joe Burke followed by Adoration at St Mirin’s church, Incle Street, Paisley, PA1 1HR. All are welcome.
 
Glasgow Pro-Life Vigil 30th October:
Almost 11 million unborn lives have been ended by abortion since the passing of the 1967 Abortion Act. Please attend SPUC’s Candlelight Procession on Thursday 30th  October to ensure these precious lives are not forgotten. The SPUC's Candlelight Procession will leave John Street at Glasgow City Chambers at 6:30pm, heading toward St Andrew's Cathedral. Attendees will pray the Rosary in the Cathedral at 7pm, followed by Mass at 7:30pm.


Montford Missionaries St John’s Memorial 2nd November:
The Priests and Brothers of the Montford Missionaries will celebrate their many years of service to the people of Barrhead and Scotland with the installation of a commemorative plaque at the entrance of our parish church at the end of the 10am Mass on Sunday 2nd November.
 
Those present to represent the Montford Missionaries will be:

Fr Marco Pasinato, Head of Montford, Northern Europe
Fr Balaswamy Kata, General Bursar
Fr Richard Magararu, UK Lead Montford Missionary Priest
 
Family members of the late and well-loved Fr Jim Murray SMM will also attend this Mass. After the celebration of Mass and the unveiling of the plaque, there will be a gathering for teas and coffees in the parish hall, to which all are invited. Home baking and biscuits would be appreciated to help with catering that day. Thank you.
Renfrewshire Interfaith Remembrance Sunday Service:
The Renfrewshire Interfaith Group, East Renfrewshire Faith Forum are hosting a service on Remembrance Sunday, 9th November, and is supported by Friends of Barshaw.
The service will take place at the Peace Garden in Barshaw Park. The event will begin at the cafe at 2:45pm before attendees walk to the Peace Garden.
 
Representatives of many faiths and organisations will speak for a few minutes on the theme of ‘Our Future’                              which is the theme of Interfaith Week 2025. At the end of the service a white wreath will be laid at the peace pole in the garden and then attendees will return to the cafe to share soup / hot drink and friendship. Everyone is welcome. 
 
Be Still and Know that I am God, 14 - 17 November 2025:
A three-day retreat led by Fr Roger Dawson, SJ, aiming to help participants find a greater attentiveness and disposition to God’s presence in their lives through a disciplining of the mind and awareness of the present moment.
 
Red Wednesday 19th November 2025:
On Red Wednesday, 19th November, our Scottish cathedrals will join Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) in celebrating Mass to remember Christians across the world who suffer for their faith. 80% of all religious persecution in the world is directed against Christians, and our brothers and sisters in Christ desperately need our prayers and support. Will you help us ‘break the silence on Christian persecution’?
