General Election: The Catholic Parliamentary Office has developed several resources that you will find useful for the election, including a Pastoral Letter from the Bishops of Scotland and suggested questions for candidates. You can find it here: https://rcpolitics.org/general-election-2024/.

Value Your Vote: SPUC has launched a campaign to encourage voters to protect the most vulnerable members of our society from the womb to the tomb with advanced tools at www.spuc.org.uk/valueyourvote to support you in making your pro-life vote count. Despite the staggering scale of abortion alongside growing momentum for legislation to permit assisted suicide, the Catholic Church is almost alone in recognising the gravity of the situation for society.  This online tool can help you make your voice count.

New Lectionary Advent 24:  If you would like to dedicate a volume in memory of a loved one, with their names inscribed at the front of the Lectionary please speak to Fr Joe Balmer. Only 3 chapel editions for use in St Lukes and Primaries are now available at £100 along with the Book of the Gospels priced £395.00 for use on Solemnities and High Masses.

Jubilee 2025: The Holy Door (Porta Sancta): This is a special door that is only opened during Jubilee Years. Traditionally, the Holy Door is the one in St. John Lateran which is the Cathedral of the Bishop of Rome. However, to allow the great number of pilgrims to pass through it, Holy Doors were established in the other Patriarchal Basilicas of Rome.  Following a Jubilee Year, it is sealed with brick and mortar and not opened until the next Jubilee Year. The Porta Santa is usually opened every 25 years but may also be opened during “extraordinary” years, as in the case of the 2016 Jubilee Year of Mercy which opened on the 8th December 2015 and closed on 20th November 2016.

Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration – Summer Hours: The Oratory is now closed. From this Mon 1st July to Fri 16th August there will be Adoration in the Church on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10.30 am – 1.00 pm. Adorers are asked to complete a sign-up form if they are available for these hours. Forms available in the porch at the back of the Church.’

Diocesan Vocations Mass: On Thursday, 12th September, we will celebrate the Diocesan Vocations Mass at St. John’s in Port Glasgow (6.30pm). Bishop John invites us to pray between now and the 12th of September for an increase in Vocations to the Priesthood, Diaconate and Consecrated Life. You may find it suitable to offer a daily Rosary or a visit to the Blessed Sacrament for this intention.

Peregrinatio Pro Christi (Travelling for Christ): Every year some members of the Legion of Mary volunteer to take part in a Peregrinatio Pro Christi project (PPC) to another country.  On Monday 1st of July, a team will travel to Oulu in Finland sharing their faith with all those they meet. It can often be very difficult work and is supported by the many prayers being said by those at home. We would like to invite you to pray for this project which concludes on Thursday 11th July.

We pray for those who have died recently: Edward McGuire and for the Anniversaries of Greta Doyle, Jim Geddes, Elizabeth Wilson, Canon Joseph Sweeney, Fr. Arthur J. Kilpatrick.

Wednesday 7.30am Mass: This will conclude after this week's Mass on 3rd July until Wednesday the 14th August.

Confiteor:
I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned,  in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault; therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.

Gloria: Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you; we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory, Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.
Glory

Nicene Creed:
I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I Believe in   one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made.
For us
For us    For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
(At the words that follow up to and including and “became man”, all bow.)
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day, in accordance with the Scriptures.

He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

The Mystery of Faith:
We proclaim your Death, O Lord, and profess your Resurrection until you come again.
Or: When we eat this Bread and drink this Cup, we proclaim your Death, O Lord, until you come again
Or:  Save us, Saviour of the world, for by your Cross and Resurrection you have set us free

Prayer to St Michael, the Archangel: St Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.   May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who wander through the world, seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
