Barrhead Young Citizen of the Year Award 2025. The Award was created by our former MP and MSP Rt Hon Jim Murphy and Rt Hon Ken Macintosh back in 2003 and was awarded annually to young people who showed exceptional dedication and service to our community in Barrhead. We are delighted to be restoring this opportunity to recognise our fantastic young people, particularly at a time when we often only hear negative things about them. In order to be nominated the young people should attend school or live in Barrhead and be aged between S1 and 24 years old (the upper limit of the UN definition of a young person). We are seeking nominations where a young person has shown support for the community in different ways for example through their volunteering, their involvement in local organisations, their support for others or an exceptional skill or talent in which they have excelled. There will be one main winner and two runners up. The closing date for nominations is Wednesday 25th June at 9.00am and we will present the award on Saturday 28 June at 10.00am (venue tbc). th Nominations can be made online here paulokanemsp.scot/barrhead-young-citizen-of-the-year 2025/ or a paper copy can be requested by calling either office number below.

Please take home a letter from Father John regarding the church and also a letter for Communications Sunday. Thank you.

Blessed Carlo Acutis Evenings will take place in St Mirin’s Cathedral Halls on the first Friday of every month in term time, from 6-8pm. The next event will take place on Friday 6th June. The hope would be that once they are established—sometime in the new academic year—we can open them up to pupils in S1, S2 and S3 (with events tailored to them).
