Amen.

St Conval’s Cemetery:
Both the Diocese and Parish have been asked by a number of people about setting up a fund after the recent vandalism of the graveyard which resulted in a number of gravestones being badly damaged or destroyed and the large Crucifix also being set on fire and badly scorched.
A number of well-intentioned people have set up independent fundraising sites on our behalf but we would prefer if any donations were made through our official charities fund using the QR code below or via the link on the diocesan website for the ‘St Conval’s Cemetery Vandalism Fund’.
We can then liaise with the owners of the lairs and fund the necessary repairs to the gravestones.
All money donated to the fund will be distributed to the families and if necessary used to refurbish the scorched crucifix which was also set on fire by the perpetrator.
We really appreciate your support and generosity at this difficult time for all the families affected.

1st Barrhead Guides:

The Guides have got lots of exciting activities for girls aged 10–14. Our activities are for all abilities, enjoy trying new things, from making sweet treats to upcycling items and exploring the great outdoors.

Peregrinatio Pro Christi (Travelling for Christ):
Every year some members of the Legion of Mary volunteer to take part in a Peregrinatio Pro Christi project (PPC) to another country. Scotland was given the responsibility of helping with evangelisation in Finland. So, for over 40 years teams of legionaries from Scotland have been spending part of their summer holidays at their own expense going out to share the Gospel in various parts of Finland. Last year there was a successful project to Oulu in the north-west of Finland. This year on Monday 14th of July, a team will travel to Helsinki in Finland sharing their faith with all those they meet. It can often be very difficult work and is supported by the many prayers being said by those at home. We would like to invite you to pray for this project which concludes on Thursday 24th July.

Statement from Susan Purdie, the District Commissioner for Barrhead, Neilston & Uplawmoor:

As you know, Girlguiding runs in the church hall on a Tuesday and Thursday night.
Sadly, the leaders of the Rainbows are having to give up, meaning that after the summer the Rainbows will not be returning unless we can get new volunteers.
I was wondering if it would be possible to ask in your parish bulletin if there would be any interest from female parishioners in volunteering for running Rainbows on a Tuesday evening.
The link for volunteering is https://go.girlguiding.org.uk/join-us/join-as-volunteer/
This will send a request to me and I will contact any potential volunteers.
Thanks in advance - Susan

SCIAF Football Tournament:

Parishes are invited to enter a team in SCIAF’s 5-a-side football tournament, 'The SCIAF Shield' on Saturday 30 August at Goals, Shawlands. It’s a fun, faith-filled way to support SCIAF’s work. Teams of up to 8 players (aged 16+) welcome.

Parish Accounts 2024 Audit:

A full review of the parish accounts from last year’s audit is posted on the back noticeboard of the church. It gives everyone an insight into the parish money that is brought in, how it is spent and what savings we made through the diocesan building fund and in our parish investments.

Gift Aid Donations for last Tax Year:
The total raised from Gift Aid for 2024-2025 was £22,958.53.
Thank you to everyone who gift aided their contributions to the Parish. This is a great way to raise extra funds for the parish at no extra expense to the Gift Aid donor.
A further £1,623.80 was raised in gift aid for the Diocesan second collections, which helped the diocese in its work too.
Thank you once again for those of you who were able to Gift Aid your contributions to the work of the diocese.
